چکیده

In the current paper, analysis of heavy mineral concentrate (Schlich analysis) was used to study particles technogenic origin in samples urban surface-deposited sediments (USDS). The USDS were collected residential areas 10 Russian cities located different economic, climatic, and geological zones: Ufa, Perm, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Tagil, Magnitogorsk, Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Murmansk, Ekaterinburg. number determined coarse particle size fractions 0.1–0.25 0.25–1 mm. types studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. amount material differed from city city; fraction varied range 0.01 0.43 with an average value 0.18. represented lithoid granulated slag, iron silicate microspheres, fragments brick, paint, glass, plaster, other household waste. Various morphological characteristics as well chemical composition. novelty significance comprises following: it has been shown that are contained a significant part USDS; quantitative indicators accumulation landscape have determined; contributions various total estimated for landscape; trends transformation typomorphic elemental associations associated demonstrated; alteration microelemental content revealed, taking into account impurities composition particles.

Investigation of Impervious surface and Urban Surface Temperature in Qaemshahr

Information on a variation of impervious surface is useful for understanding urbanization and its impacts on the hydrological cycle, water management, surface energy balances, urban heat island, and biodiversity. This research attempts to detect impervious surfaces and its changes by satellite imagery in Qaemshahr. The relationship between impervious surfaces and changes in land surface tempera...

Calcareous Nannofossils in Holocene Surface Sediments of the Persian Gulf

The effect of the paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental changes on the structure of the bioticcommunities are stronger and better recorded in the shelf area than in the open sea. The present study isdevoted to impact of climatic events on some species of calcareous nannofossils. For this reason, 17samples of surface sediments of the Persian Gulf were studied. Preservation of calcareous nannofoss...

Pollination drop in Juniperus communis: response to deposited material.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS The pollination drop is a liquid secretion produced by the ovule and exposed outside the micropyle. In many gymnosperms, pollen lands on the surface of the pollination drop, rehydrates and enters the ovule as the drop retracts. The objective of this work was to study the formation of the pollination drop in Juniperus communis, its carbohydrate composition and the response to...

Extension of Sediment Geochronology to Coarse-Grained Sediments

Knowledge of seabed dynamics in nearshore environments is needed to address problems ranging from to the evolution of coastal geomorphology to the changing nature of seabed acoustical properties. One successful approach, used primarily in fine-grained sedimentary environments, has been the application short-lived particle-reactive radioisotopes to quantify sediment deposition and accumulation r...

Automated Sizing of Coarse-Grained Sediments: Image-Processing Procedures1

This is the first in a pair of papers in which we present image-processing-based procedures for the measurement of fluvial gravels. The spatial and temporal resolution of surface grain-size characterization is constrained by the time-consuming and costly nature of traditional measurement techniques. Several groups have developed image-processing-based procedures, but none have demonstrated the ...
